Estrella del Mar Golf & Beach Resort (EDM)s under a new ownership and management, led by the PINSA Group.
In December 2013, the PINSA group acquired the assets of EDM, with plans to expand and develop the full potential of this extraordinary unique property, located just 10 minutes from the Mazatlan International Airport. The vision is to create a “paradise-like” vacation beach community for national and international families, where they can own or rent a little piece of our beautiful Mexico. Families will immediately have great experiences and memories of their vacations, and at the same time have exceptional real estate opportunities to build their personal equity and pass wealth generated from EDM ownership from generation to generation, either as a permanent resident of part time vacation resident. EDM offers easy access to the Mazatlan International Airport; “it is like having our own airport” says Mr. José E. Carranza Beltran, President of the PINSA Group and the new owner.
The PINSA Group is considered one of the strongest and most important companies in Latin America, with focus on the tuna fishing and canning industry. The PINSA group generates more than 3,700 direct jobs and is the most important source of indirect jobs in Mazatlan, Sinaloa. This group was founded by the distinguished Mr. Jose Eduvigildo Carranza Beltran, better known to his family and friends as Leovy Carranza.
The PINSA Group is comprised of the following Mexican companies: MAZINSA, PESCA AZTECA, SARDISON, PINSA COMERCIAL, PRONOVA DESARROLLADOR, and Estrella del Mar (the newest member).
The PINSA Group was founded in 1980 when it established a plant for the production of fish flour. Over the years it expanded to other ventures in collateral business spaces, e.g., the canned tuna, tuna fishing and fishing vessel acquisitions, and started marketing Mazatun and El Dorado canned tuna brands. Pinsa is the most important company in Latin America within the tuna fishing industry, currently operating 20 tuna fishing vessels and producing more than one million tuna cans per day.
In November 2013 the PINSA Group, through its company MAZINSA, was recognized as the recipient of the National Export Award 2013, which is the ultimate recognition given to Mexican companies, institutions and organizations operating in the international trade sector. The award ceremony was presided over by the President of Mexico, Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto. Mr. Carranza currently is a member of the advisory group to the Mexico Presidency for fisheries and aquaculture.
This new project at EDM by the PINSA Group is an economic, ecological and personal commitment from Mr. Carranza.
“We wish to give Sinaloa, and in particular to Mazatlan, an outstanding reputation as a tourist destination for Mexican and international communities. We are assembling talenting and very experienced staff to boost the development of this project. My commitment is to successfully move forward with the development of the new EDM, even if it is the last thing I do in my life.”
With this kind of commitment, we know for sure that the new EDM will be the most desirable and exclusive destination in Sinaloa.
