At the end of 2003, Estrella del Mar ownership sold a 50%
position to a new owner/managing partner that has taken
control of operations and marketing. Management turned
to Pat Butler, an American Developer, with extensive business
and development experience in both the U.S. and Mexico.
Mr.
Butler has held several prominent business positions including
Vice President for Marriott Corporation, President and
CEO of Coast to Coast Resorts, and President and CEO of
Golf Card International.
In
1994, Mr. Butler broke from corporate America to pursue
development opportunities in Baja, Mexico. Near the town
of San Felipe, Mr. Butler acquired a resort development
called El
Dorado Ranch which at the time was just in its infancy.
Over the next 10 years El Dorado Ranch would become one
of the premier real estate development in the state of
Northern Baja, the largest employer in the area, and at
the same time, set a new standard for environmental development.
In
addition to becoming a solid business, El Dorado Ranch
has become a role model for environmentally sustainable
development. The Ranch can now lay claim to being the
largest solar community in the North America. Further,
the Ranch has pioneered straw bale home construction in
Baja. In fact, the first straw bale home in Baja was constructed
at El Dorado Ranch. And by promoting this ecologically
friendly construction method, the Ranch can now boast
of having more straw bale homes than any other community
in North America.
In addition to El Dorado Ranch, Mr. Butler expanded and
developed a seaside and golf course
community, La
Ventana del Mar. This 266-acre seaside community consists of 750 home lots and over 300 condominiums. An
18-hole championship golf course represents
the only golf course in the area. And in keeping with
Mr. Butler’s commitment to the environment this
development is also adhering to strict environmental and
population guidelines to ensure a highly desirable living
condition that has minimal ecological impact.
The
golf course utilizes a special hybrid of grass "sea
dwarf" paspalum, that allows the golf course to use
water that is too salty for human or agricultural use
thereby eliminating the need for depleting precious water
resources. Further, any plants that had to be removed
were done so by hand and transferred to a nursery.
As
a result of Mr. Butler’s strong business models
and a desire to work in an environmentally friendly manner
with his developments, El Dorado Ranch and La Ventana
del Mar were recognized by the Mexican Government
as being amongst the most outstanding real estate developments
in the Baja.
Over
the years Mr. Butler has assembled an international management
team to assist in his endeavors. And now he brings his
and his management teams' expertise to Estrella del Mar.
We are very excited to welcome our new developer and the
future looks brighter than ever. If you are interested
